HR1: Existential Threat to American Democracy
This bill, which among other things overrides state legislatures control of federal elections, passed the House of Representatives on a strict party line vote 220 to 210. One report said that a single Democrat voted no while another stated that all Democrats voted aye.
Regardless, this bill, which might be called the “Permanent Democratic Party Governance” bill, is now headed to the Senate. Only the filibuster in the upper house can stop the bill from becoming law and starting us on the path to permanent one-party rule. Apparently Joe Manchin and possibly Kristen Sinema stand in the way of the filibuster being eliminated.

UPDATE: The Epoch Times reported today that a single Democrat voted against HR1. He is Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.). He stated in an email that
My constituents opposed the redistricting portion of the bill as well as the section on public finances. I always listen and vote in the interest of my constituentsLone Democrat Explains Why He Sided With Republicans Against HR 1
